An experienced general practitioner with a passion for women’s health, Nadira specialises in menopause and family planning. Pause and Co Healthcare was founded in 2021 by her desire for challenging societal taboos around sex, sexuality, and reproduction.
Pause and Co Healthcare’s vision is to provide accessible, affordable, and personalised menopause care while raising awareness and breaking taboos surrounding women’s health.
Nadira is dedicated to providing support and education about menopause to individuals in the workplace and beyond, since she herself went through it at a younger-than-average age.

Nadira Awal has trained for many years to become a GP and Women’s Health Advocate. She graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2009, finished her GP training in 2014 and joined the Royal College of General Practitioners. Nadira also boasts a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology, Letters of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques and Subdermal Contraceptive Implant Techniques, and a Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. She is a Member of the Primary Women’s Healthcare Forum and Advanced Accredited Member of the British Menopause Society.
Nadira is not only an expert in her field but also an excellent supervisor and teacher. She has many years of experience teaching and supervising junior doctors, nurses and colleagues and consistently receives positive feedback from her peers. Alongside her role as GP, Nadira has held various clinical management responsibilities, including Joint Lead in Women’s Health, COPD & Asthma Lead, Co-lead in Diabetes Care, Child Safeguarding Lead, and Deputy Adult Safeguarding Lead. Working in these roles has given Nadira a wealth of experience, which she uses in her current practice to provide comprehensive and compassionate care.
In her leisure time, Nadira enjoys following a wide variety of interests, including her thriving medical career. The art of photography is one such interest. Her photography skills are evident in the breathtaking images featured on the site and shared on social media.
Building things is another pastime of Nadira’s. She finds satisfaction in constructing items like wardrobes and shelves from the ground up. She is incredibly focused and meticulous, which allows her to achieve her goals in any endeavour she undertakes.
With her husband and two adorable girls, Nadira enjoys significant amount of family time. Her daughters are delightful and enthusiastic about helping out with the family business, always getting excited about the next big project. They bring a lot of enthusiasm and initiative to any project they’re a part of.
